Among things we really need!!!

A goog friend of mine gave me this tip: http://thesecreatures.com/cocker_spaniel.shtml
I might actually order one - for my English Cocker Spaniel Herman. Maybe not the spitting image of my own dog - but who cares!!
Thank's JIM for your interest in my dog having the biggest "cool account" ever + every other contribution!

Nate - my man!!

Nate Berkus! Check out: www.nateberkus.com

I love his interior design! I found this picture on the Internet - and YES! I would love to take Nate home, and I would love to work for him. Love his style and combinations.

Black & White

I’m a bit into black and white these days, especially with the silver details.
Take a notice of the floor in the left picture, looks like it is painted white with black details.
If you consider painting wooden floors, it’s important to do all the necessary groundwork, for best result. Talk to professional people and listen to their advice.

Glass!!

I’m freaking out just thinking of it… glass floors? My acrophobia (fears of heights), would stop me from buying a house with glass floors. I know – it looks funky… but still?
And it must be a pain in the whatever to clean the floor – I mean thinking about windows (it needs some work to get it clean…). Funky vs Practical!!!

Frame it!

I love how this is put together. The variation of photo frames, with the wooden letters in between, makes it an eye catcher for any boring wall. Similar slim shelves can be found at IKEA or other well equipped interior stores. My only comment, is that I would prefer only black and white photos. Be playful - mix and match!

Favorite book - Valentino

Valentino – what can I say! He really knows how to work his material. Check out the details, and how he let’s the beautiful fabrics come alive.
I often find inspiration in fashion books, as fashion designers find inspiration in photographs or movies. You can see a beautiful picture, and then suddenly your own interior comes together.

Favorite book - Andrew Martin

I can skim through these books again and again and again. These are my # 1 favorite among all interior design books. They’re called “Andrew Martin Interior Design Review” (volume 1-12). The ones in the picture are # 10-11-12. They are great inspiration from all over the world. The books embraces from the plainest interior to the really max (the “too much”). I know you can find the books at Amazon, but last time I checked it was very expensive. Try some of the fancy interior stores, or shop them if you go to UK. In Norway you’ll find them at Christian’s.
In Stockholm you’ll find them at Slettvold.

Favorite book - Ralph Lauren

I love this Ralph Lauren book. He's a great designer, both in clothes and interior! If I had a summer house - it would be Ralph Lauren's New England style, all over. Check out his website: http://www.ralphlaurenhome.com/ for inspiration. And my favorite right now; Black Sands: http://ralphlaurenhome.com/rlhome/collection/sp09_blacksands_explore.asp

Simple as that...

Try some bold colors!

I love the combination of bold colors with soft, discreet interior. Nearly white walls gives you a good margin to be playful with colors and details. Be bold! Change the pillows, blankets and candles after the season. Red/green for Christmas, light greens (mix it with dark brown – gorgeous) in the spring, purple/pink in the summer, and brown/gold for fall (or any color you like for any season). Another favorite of mine (for example for a guestroom) is light purple with light green, with pale white walls. I’ll try to find an example to show what I mean.

Another favorite!!

I love this lamp - and two of them in a pair are just perfect over a big dining table. They are big, but a beautiful eye catcher! I know they are a bit pricy, but sometimes it pays to spend some on the extravaganza, look how they put character to the room!

Stairway to heaven?

I just love this stairs, the design is fantastic. I would love to have this one in my new house – whenever we get it!
I love the airy feeling, and the combination of materials, it’s absolutely fantastic.
It’s made by Inventas Molde, and build by Melby Snekkerverksted.
